Jackson Rising is a citywide movement and strategic plan built on the idea that Together We Rise. It unites residents, businesses, community organizations, and local leaders around a shared vision for renewal. By coordinating efforts across public safety, infrastructure, housing, education, culture, and more, Jackson Rising creates a clear framework for action that delivers early wins, builds long-term momentum, and tells a new story of progress and pride for the capital city.
FOR THE FUTURE OF JACKSON
For more than fifty years, Jackson’s population has steadily declined, falling by more than a quarter since 1980. This loss has strained the city’s ability to provide services, leading to challenges in public safety, infrastructure, housing, and economic opportunity. Jackson Rising is about reversing these trends. By organizing efforts across sectors and amplifying visible progress, the plan sets out to rebuild confidence, attract residents and investment, and reposition Jackson as a place of progress, hope, and possibility.

GROW OUR POPULATION
Retain current residents by improving essential services and quality of life, while attracting new residents through expanded housing, strong neighborhoods, and a vibrant civic identity.
INCREASE PUBLIC SAFETY
Strengthen our police department and address root causes of crime through prevention and community partnerships.
FIX OUR INFRASTRUCTURE
Repair streets, storm drains, lighting, and water systems to build a reliable foundation for daily life.
ELIMINATE BLIGHT
Remove or rehabilitate blighted properties, stabilize vacant sites, and lead visible clean-up and beautification campaigns to restore neighborhood pride.
GROW OUR ECONOMY
Attract new businesses and investment, support entrepreneurs and small businesses, and create pathways to prosperity for all residents.
INVEST IN EDUCATION
Strengthen schools, expand career pathways, and connect workforce training with real opportunities to prepare Jacksonians for success.
Strengthen Public Places
